In 2007 a primary school teacher, Rossano Ercolini became the champion of a small Italian town of Capannori to be world leading. Rather than build a waste incineration plant they adapted a zero waste policy. Today the town produces 40% less waste and 80% of the remaining waste is recycled, with the town generating \u20ac2 million\/year from sales of recycled material.<\/p>\n
