The first public study of its kind undertaken by Orb and a researcher at the University of Minnesota has shown previously unknown contamination of drinking water supplies by microscopic plastic fibres. Contamination levels in samples tested across five continents, from New York to New Delhi was over 80% positive. These microplastics have been shown to absorb toxins and release them when consumed by mammals, fish and other life forms.
